Carthage Elementary School PTO

The mission of the PTO to to enhance the educational opportunities of all students and to support the teachers and staff in their efforts to provide the best education possible for our students. Every parent is a vital link in that process, which is why we do not charge a membership fee to join the PTO. We want everyone to be involved.

Why be involved?

There is no greater way to teach your child the importance of education, than by being involved in their school. When your child sees that their education is important to you, it will become more important to them. In addition it is a great way to meet other parents and people who are a part of your child's life.

How to be involved?

We know that your time is precious. Whether you have a little time or a lot of time to give we can find a place for you!

The first thing you can do is to come to a PTO meeting. We will not hold a meeting just for the sake of meeting. Our meetings will keep you informed with what is happening in the school and classrooms, as well as fun activities for the whole family.

Another way to get involved is to help in your child's classroom. Talk to the teacher and see if there is something you can do to help. Teachers can always use help making copies, preparing project materials, labeling books, and even working with the children in small group settings. Even if you are not available during the day, there may be ways you can help. Open that door by talking to your child's teacher.

Finally, talk to a PTO board member about helping with an activity. Trust me - we can ALWAYS use another set of hands. The more parents we have that are willing to help, the better our activities will be and the more we can do. The sky is the limit if we have an army of volunteers who are all willing to just do a little!

How much time is required?

Whether you have an hour a year you can give or an hour a day, there is a place for you. Start by talking to a PTO Board member, the principal, or your teacher. We need bakers, and ticket takers, popcorn poppers and painters. We will find a way for you to be involved.
